Article 543 of Commercial Code

1 - The drawer or bearer of a cheque may cross it, and such crossing shall have the effects specified in the following Article. 2 - Crossing shall be effected by placing two parallel lines across the face of the cheque. 3 - Crossing shall be general or special. 4 - If the space between the two lines contains no indication, or if the word - bank - or any other word conveying this meaning is written between them, the crossing shall be general. If the name of a particular bank is written between the two lines, the crossing shall be special. 5 - A general crossing may be converted into a special crossing, but a special crossing may not be converted into a general crossing. 6 - The deletion of the crossing or of the bank's name written between the two lines shall be deemed never to have occurred.
