Article 135 of Kuwaiti Penal Code

Anyone who assaults a public official or resists him by force or violence while he is performing his duties or by reason of their performance shall be punished by imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year and a fine not exceeding one thousand dinars and not less than three hundred dinars, or by either of these penalties. If the assault is committed against any of the persons included in the second paragraph of the 1( Replaced pursuant to Decree-Law No. 93 of 2024 2( Replaced pursuant to Decree-Law No. 93 of 2024 preceding Article, the penalty shall be imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years and a fine not exceeding two thousand dinars and not less than five hundred dinars, or either of these penalties. If the assault is committed against a member of the police force, army or National Guard while performing his duties in dispersing a gathering, meeting, demonstration, procession or assembly, with the intent to resist him or obstruct the tasks of his office, the penalty shall be imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years and a fine not exceeding five thousand dinars and not less than one thousand dinars, or either of these penalties.
