Article 178 of Code of Civil Procedure

Without prejudice to the provisions of the preceding article or any other law, the arbitrator must accept the performance of his mandate. Acceptance shall be established in writing. If the arbitrator withdraws from performing his work without a serious reason after accepting the arbitration, he may be ordered to pay damages. The arbitrator may not be removed except with the consent of all the litigants. He may not be challenged from adjudicating except for reasons arising or becoming apparent after his appointment. A challenge shall be sought on the same grounds on which a judge is challenged or deemed unfit to adjudicate. The challenge application shall be filed with the court originally competent to hear the action within five days of the litigant being notified of the arbitrator’s appointment, or from the date on which the ground for challenge arises or he becomes aware of it, if this follows his notification of the arbitrator’s appointment. In all cases, the challenge application shall not be admissible if the arbitrators’ award has been rendered or pleadings in the case have been closed. The applicant for the challenge may appeal the judgment rendered on his application regardless of the value of the dispute submitted for adjudication.
