Article 11 of Decree-Law No. 11 of 2026 concerning Protection from Domestic Violence

Anyone who witnesses or becomes aware of a case of domestic violence must report it to the department concerned, the police station or the competent investigating authority. A person reporting domestic violence shall enjoy legal protection from the time the report is submitted. Protection shall extend to anyone who requires it, as determined by the competent investigating authorities, with an obligation to maintain confidentiality and not disclose his identity unless judicial procedures require otherwise. The Executive Regulations shall specify the required means and procedures of protection.
