Article 8 of Decree-Law No. 11 of 2026 concerning Protection from Domestic Violence

Any interested person in incidents of domestic violence may, before resorting to the police station or competent investigation authority, submit a request to settle the dispute to the department concerned. The department concerned shall notify the parties to the family dispute to attend, hear their statements, and offer them advice and guidance in preparation for an amicable settlement. Interested persons shall attend personally or through those representing them by law or under an official power of attorney. When conducting the settlement, the department concerned may seek the opinion of any religious scholars or social, psychological or legal specialists whose experience is not less than five years. The Council shall issue a decision on the rules for selecting these specialists, in coordination with the relevant authorities.
