The Supreme Defence Council or its delegate shall designate the force or unit assigned to guard the State's borders. It shall have the power to detain, stop, search, arrest, and open fire on anyone attempting to cross, encroach upon, or breach its domain or its land or maritime borders. In sudden situations confronting it, this force or unit may immediately initiate gunfire to deter any real danger, in accordance with the course of the security or Law Index 466 Home Page Law on the Protection of the Supreme Interests of Military Authorities Decree-Law No. 13 of 2026 concerning Securing and Protecting the Supreme Interests of Military Authorities operational situation in which it is present.
