Article 110 of Civil Code

1 - Guardianship over a minor's property belongs to his father, then to the guardian selected by the father, then to the paternal grandfather, then to the guardian appointed by the court, subject to the provisions of Article 112. 2 - Neither the father nor the grandfather may relinquish guardianship without an acceptable excuse.
