Article 48 of Code of Civil Procedure

The period for appearance before the summary courts, courts of first instance and courts of appeal shall be five days. In cases of necessity, this period may be reduced to two days. The period for appearance in urgent cases, whether before the judge of urgent matters or before the court hearing the merits, shall be twenty-four hours. In cases of necessity, this period may be reduced from hour to hour, provided that service is effected on the opposing party personally, unless the action is a maritime action. Reduction of the periods in the foregoing cases shall be by permission of the judge of interim matters, a copy of which shall be served on the opposing party with the statement of claim. Failure to observe the periods for appearance shall not entail nullity, without prejudice to the right of the person served to an adjournment to complete the period.
