Article 14 of Public Funds Protection Law

Every public official, employee or worker who, through his fault, causes serious damage to the funds or interests of the entity for which he works or with which he is connected by virtue of an office, or to the funds or interests of others entrusted to that entity, where this arises from attentiveness or neglect in the performance of his office, a breach of its duties, or abuse of authority within or outside the country, shall be punished by temporary imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years and a fine of not less than three thousand dinars and not more than twenty thousand dinars, or by either of these two penalties. The penalty shall be temporary imprisonment for a term of not less than three years and a fine of not less than twenty thousand dinars and not more than one hundred thousand dinars if the fault was gross and the offence resulted in damage to the country's financial, commercial or economic conditions or any national interest thereof, or if he committed the offence in wartime. If the court convicts the accused, it must order his removal from office.
