Article 7 of Decree-Law No. 53 of 2026 Promulgating the Law Regulating Procedures for Parentage and Name Correction Actions

In exercising its functions, the Committee may take such decisions and measures as it considers necessary. In particular, it may summon the applicant and anyone connected with the application whom it considers necessary to summon, hear their testimony after they take an oath, and require them to submit the data or documents necessary to determine the application. If the applicant fails to attend or to submit the data or documents within thirty days from the date he is instructed to do so, the Committee may reject his application or order its referral to the competent court, as appropriate. The Committee may order DNA testing and other modern scientific methods in investigating applications concerning direct or indirect lineage, provided their results are kept confidential.
